The Evansville Water Department is a public-private partnership between the City of Evansville and American Water Enterprise.


Water Works and Sewage Office BuildingThe Evansville Water Filtration Plant was originally built in the years 1870 to 1873.  Since that time, there have been many improvements and additions.  To learn more, please visit our History page.  

The Evansville Water Filtration Plant is a conventional treatment plant facility designed to pump 60 million gallons of water a day.  We pump, on average, 32 million gallons of treated water daily from the Ohio River to the 150,000 people of Evansville.  The city has over 900 miles of water mains and 6 storage tanks through out the city. 

The Evansville Water Filtration Plant is in operation 24 hours a day.

OUR MISSION
The Evansville Water Utility will provide the Evansville metro area with high quality, safe, dependable water service at rates which encourage economic development.  The utility will manage land and water resources to ensure quality for future generations.
