The Building Commission coordinates, schedule, and performs inspections of buildings during all phases of construction, addition, and alteration. Inspection categories include structural, architectural, accessibility, energy, roof coverings, life safety, HVAC, refrigeration, steam fitting, exhaust hoods/systems, fire protection, fire alarm, electrical, plumbing, underground site-utilities, site work and unsafe buildings. Our department issues stop work orders, repair orders, raze orders, and administrates public hearings for unsafe buildings. The Building Commission also coordinates and performs damage assessments in the event of an emergency.
