Welcome to Evansville Vanderburgh Animal Care and Control. You will find information about our role in the community, local pet ordinance requirements, what to do if you lose or find a pet, adopting a new pet or reclaiming your pet.

Mission Statement:
The Evansville Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control Shelter is dedicated to promoting citizen and pet safety, promotion of responsible pet ownership and the reduction of animal overpopulation.  This mission is accomplished through investigation, intervention and education as well as the enforcement of the City Ordinance.  Our commitment is to ensure the superior quality of our services and to respond to the changing needs of our community.

The operation of the Animal Care & Control Shelter is under the supervision of the Department of Transportation & Services. The Animal Control and Education Board appointed by the Mayor to serve as a governing body in the issuing of permits and ruling in animal cases complying with Section H of the Animal Control Ordinance 9.90.22.

Hours of Operation:
 Monday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.   Saturday: 11 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Adoptions:
 Monday - Friday: 11:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.    Saturday: 11 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Pet Adoption:

All adopted animals are required to be in compliance with the adoption policy of the Animal Care and Control. All dogs and cats will be spayed/neutered, rabies vaccinated, microchiped, licensed if required. This is to promote compliance with the Subsection H, the Commission is authorized to establish a program which may include a prepayment system (Ordinance Section 9.90.22, Subsection H). The cost of this is equal to the cost to have the Animal spayed or neutered. The fees are as listed below.
