HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOLDING BACK TO SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION CLINICS
To enter school, students are expected to be immunized against a number of vaccine preventable diseases. To help parents get their children ready to enter school, the Vanderburgh County Health Department is offering free vaccinations at two centralized clinics at The Centre, and on a walk-in basis at our offices at 420 Mulberry Street. STUDY RANKS COMMUNITY HEALTH
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute has compiled health indicator data to derive a snapshot of community health around the country. Rankings for all counties across the country are available on their website. The VCHD will use the rankings report along with other health indicator information to dialog with community partners in order to work towards improving the health of our community. DAILY AIR QUALITY FORECASTS NOW AVAILABLE BY E-MAIL
To supplement the air quality forecasts available HERE on the Health Department website, and in partnership with the Evansville EPA and the US Environmental Protection Agency, air quality forecasts are now available by e-mail through EnviroFlash. LEAD SCREENING DAY
A lead screening day will be held Friday, January 4th at the Vanderburgh County Health Department from 10 AM until 4 PM. Free blood lead tests with same day results will be given. There will also be games, prizes, and toy testing.

PUBLIC PLACES IN EVANSVILLE AND VANDERBURGH COUNTY GO SMOKE FREE
On January 2, 2007 smoking restrictions in work and public places go into effect. To help educate the public and assist businesses comply with the new ordinances, the Vanderburgh County Health Department has posted an informational web page. Smoke free information packets will be available for Vanderburgh County businesses at the Vanderburgh County Health Department, Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce, and County Commissioners Office.

HEALTH DEPARTMENT POSTS NEW WEB PAGE FEATURING IN-HOUSE RESOURCES AND PUBLICATIONS
The Health Department has added a new web page to their site featuring information and publications produced by Health Department staff to better serve the public in their mission. On this page you'll find our Notice of Privacy Practices outlining how we keep our client's health information confidential. You'll also find our very popular publication Evansville In Motion, which includes maps to 28 walking and running paths in the community, and tips on how to safely include walking and running in a personal regimen for better health. The site also features our very popular Resource Guide listing contact information to various health related services in our community. In the on-line version, we include links to agency websites. NEW HOURS OF OPERATION
At their August meeting the Vanderburgh County Board of Health voted to implement the 8:00 am to 4:30 pm schedule with a half hour for lunch reflected in the County Personnel Policy. The change will occur on Friday, September 1, 2006. This will align our business hours with most other county offices. Click here for Newspaper story.

SMOKE-FREE RESOLUTION PASSED BY HEALTH BOARD
On April 13th 2006 the Vanderburgh County Board of Health unanimously approved a Resolution in support of the development of City and County Ordinances requiring smoke-free environments in schools, workplaces, and other public places.
