The City of Evansville was estimated to have a 2004 population of 117,156, while Vanderburgh County’s population was estimated at 173,157.  Serving Indiana's third largest city is a vast sewage system consisting of roughly 500 miles of sanitary sewers.  This collection system begins at our homes and businesses and conveys wastewater to two wastewater treatment facilities in Evansville.  The Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant (Capacity - 20.6 MGD) and Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant (Capacity - 18 MGD) treat wastewater from the western and eastern basins of Evansville, respectively.  Both wastewater treatment plants treated effluent discharges to the Ohio River.

Any persons desiring information regarding policies of the Sewer Department should familiarize themselves with Title 13 of the municipal Code.  All Utility information including construction regulations and general requirements are contained there.
