Q: If I come into your office, can I get my certificate today?
A: Yes!  We have same day service.  The wait depends on the number of people waiting in our office.  It should not take more than 15-20 minutes.

Q: Do I have to show an I.D. to get a copy of a birth or death certificate?
A: Yes, one item from the Primary documentation list OR two items from the Secondary documentation list.

Q: How long does it take to get a copy of a certificate through the mail?
A: Please allow at least seven (7) business days to receive your certificate.  Our office turns all mail requests around in 3-5 business days after receipt.

Q: Do you have marriage and divorce records?
A: No, copies of those records can be obtained from the Vanderburgh County Clerk.  They are located in Room 216 of the Courts Building, Evansville, IN 47708.  Their phone number is (812) 435-5160.

Q: If I was born in another county or state can I get a copy of my birth certificate?
A: No, this office registers and issues Vanderburgh County birth records only.  Each county in Indiana has it's own Vital Records Section.  For assistance in obtaining certificates from other locations go to www.vitalrec.com.

Q: Can I get a social security card at your office?
A: No, social security numbers/cards can only be issued by the Social Security Agency.  Please contact the Social Security Office nearest you.
