The role of the Purchasing Department is to facilitate efficient and legal purchasing practices within the City and County by establishing purchasing policy with approval of the Mayor, City Controller, and County Commissioners. The Purchasing Department, in combination with each Purchasing Agent, shall administer an effective program which encourages free and open competition in bidding. The Purchasing Department's role is promoted by coordinating and assisting in competitive bids for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
