Vanderburgh County Auditor 

The Auditor's Office is the very heartbeat of county government. Every county office deals directly with the Auditor's Office on a regular basis to obtain important financial and tax-related information.

The Auditor literally keeps the books for county government. It is the Auditor's goal that this information be timely, accurate, and easily accessible to the public.

2017 pay 2018 Tax Deductions The property tax exemption deadline is January 5, 2018. To be eligible for these deductions in 2018, persons must be the owner of their primary residence as of December 31, 2017.

The mobile home property tax exemption deadline was Thursday, March 31, 2017. Click here for more information. 

2018 County Council Approved Budget is now available. To view County Budgets for prior years, use the County Council link above on the Left Navigation bar.

The Fall Tax Deadline was November 13, 2017. 2016 pay 2017 tax information is available on the Treasurer's website. Click here to go to the Treasurer's website to view the database for the 2016 taxes payable in 2017. Previous year's taxes will show at the bottom.

The 2017 Tax Sale was held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 9:00 AM in Room 301 of the Civic Center Complex.  Click here to go to the Tax Sale page for a listing of properties that were sold.  

Transfer Fee (Plat Book Fee) Effective July 1, 2016. Pursuant to County Code 3.05.010 and IC 36-2-9-18(d) the Vanderburgh County Auditor shall collect a fee of Five Dollars ($5.00) for each legal description of each parcel contained in the DEED for which the County Auditor makes a real property endorsement.  This does not apply to government entities.  

Tax Information:

INPRS (PERF) Changes Effective January 2018

Effective January 2018, the INPRS self-service website will have a different look and require you to set up new login credentials (PIN). Click here for more information: INPRS Update. Use this link www.inprs.in.gov/inprs to log into PERF or call (888) 286-3544.

Here is what to expect effective January 2, 2018:

  • New INPRS self-service secure website. You'll receive new login credentials (PIN) in the mail by the second week of January 2018.
  • New phone number:(844) GO-INPRS, or (844) 464-6777. One number. Easy to remember. Call us here starting Jan. 2, 2018.
  • Online-only retirement application. Our intuitive, step-by-step format makes it easy.
  • Updated retirement tracker tool. Watch your retirement application go through the review process every step of the way!
  • Access to more planning resources. Calculate your financial needs in retirement and develop your retirement savings strategy to meet your goals.
