The C. K. Newsome Community Center is a mult-purpose facility that offers rooms for daily rentals for special occasions, receptions, seminars, parties and recreational activities. Located near Evansville's Downtown, next to the Evansville Courier Building, the Community Center offers after-school and summer activities for children. Every Thursday at noon, the Senior Lunch Program is open to the public. Enjoy a well balance meal, good fellowship at a very good price.
The Community Center features an open atrium for special events under the stars. The large gymnasium features basketball and volleyball games throughout the year and is open from 9:00am - 4:00pm unless reserved. A recording studio is available for musicians to create that special sound or mix different music.

Department of Parks & Recreation manages the facility for rentals and special meetings. You may contactl Mari Roy, at 812-435-6141 or

Evansville Department of Sustainability, Energy & Environmental Quality have administrative offices at the Community Center.
The
Evansville Housing Authority provides "Youth Build" with education and training for young adults in various trades and to enrich their lives.
The
Carver Community Organization provides various youth and senior programs at the the Community Center. For more information regarding the Carver Community Center can be found at
carver@carverorg.org. Aftershool programs are available for children from K - 12. Students receive homework assistance as well as structured and supervised activities. Various programs are offered: Art education, drug prevention, digital recording studio, health, fitness and nutrition. The programs are availble weekdays from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Zumba!!
Zumba classes will be available at the C. K. Newsome Community Center, 100 E. Walnut Street, next to the Evansville Courier-Press Building. Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness program and 
is fun for all ages and skill levels. The music is a combination of Latin-American with international and pop. The steps are easy to learn and every class is a great aerobic workout that feels like a party. You don’t have to know how to dance; just move your body and follow the leader.
Classes are only $4.00 and are held on Tuesday & Thursday from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Licensed Zumba instructor, Jennifer Stilwell will be happy to show you the fun you will have as you “Join the Party!”
