Clean Evansville Focuses on Wesselman Park Neighborhood in August
Posted Date: 8/2/2012

Areas around Wesselman Park and the Vogel Spring Park Neighborhood will be the focus of the Clean Evansville trash pick-up Saturday, August 4, from 8 to 10 a.m. Around 100 people have volunteered to help, but more volunteers are welcome. Anyone interested in participating should call Keep Evansville Beautiful at 812-425-4461 to sign up. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Team one, led by Mayor Lloyd Winnecke, will meet at Wesselman Park; Team Two at Swonder Ice Rink; Team Three at Hardee’s on Boeke; Team Four at G.D. Ritzy’s Football Field; Team Five at Vogel School; and Team Six at It Takes a Village Parking lot at 1417 Stockwell Road.

August will be the 8th month of the Mayor’s Clean Evansville Initiative, and the program continues to gain traction. In July, the program collected nearly 1,200 pounds of trash during the Glenwood clean-up day.

The Clean Evansville team members invite residents and interested groups to join Mayor Winnecke on the first Saturday of each month at a different location in the city to pick-up trash. The next targeted clean-ups are scheduled for September 8th in Jacobsville Neighborhood, October 6th at a local high school to be announced, November 3rd on the Eastside, and December 1st will wrap up the year in Downtown Evansville.
