Mesker Park Zoo announces Botanical Curator and Marketing Director
(June 10, 2019) — Erik Beck, Executive Director of Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden is pleased to announce the promotion of Misty Minar as the newest Botanical Curator. Minar has been with the zoo 24 years, and has helped develop the zoo’s botanical collection, coordinated volunteer projects, and been heavily involved in horticulture education with various zoo programs.
Previously Minar served as the zoo’s horticulture-focused grounds maintenance employee. With her new role, Minar is now responsible for overseeing the zoo’s botanical curation, development, and implementation throughout the entirety of Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. Minar has been directly involved with Great Rivers Chapter Holly Society of America and is a member of the Greater Evansville Area Orchid Society. Minar is also an official member of the AZH (Association of Zoological Horticulture).
In addition, Executive Director Erik Beck also announces the addition of new Marketing Director – Danny Schembre. Schembre is a new addition to the zoo who comes from previous experience as a digital strategist for Oswald Marketing. With his experience in digital advertising as well as graphic design expertise, Schembre brings a unique perspective to the zoo as a whole as well as pushing its marketing initiatives to a new level.
