Traffic Alert: Sewer Lining Project to Impact Traffic on Veterans Memorial Parkway Starting July 31
(July 29, 2019) On or about Wednesday, July 31, at 2 a.m. contractors will begin installing a liner in a 54-inch sewer pipe at the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant. As a result, crews will be working with heavy equipment on Veterans Memorial Parkway just east of Waterworks Road.
The sewer lining project will take approximately four (4) weeks to complete, weather permitting. Lining crews will work around the clock. Other contractors will work from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, until the project is finished.
Most of the work will be concentrated in the eastbound, outside lane of Veterans Memorial Parkway, where traffic has been reduced to one lane. However, there will be occasions when construction will impact eastbound and westbound lanes on Veterans Memorial Parkway, with crews working inside a protected work zone in the median.
The posted speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph in the construction zone. The Evansville Police Department will increase patrols along Veterans Memorial Parkway to encourage motorists to slow down. In addition, a message board will be posted along Veterans Memorial Parkway warning eastbound motorist of the utility work ahead and one lane traffic.
