Public Notice: ESG 2020 Cares Act
The ESG 2020 Cares Act with an allocation to the City of Evansville of $790,410 constitutes a Substantial Amendment to the City of Evansville’s 2019 Action Plan. These funds are targeted towards those affected by the economic disaster created by COVID-19. While COVID-19 has severely affected the traditional homeless, these funds are largely intended to mitigate the housing instability of those that may be new to being on the brink of homelessness, those that have fallen behind on their rent and can be diverted from entering the homeless system, and for those that also have the ability to quickly recover with a suddenly improved economy. There will be more of an emphasis on homeless prevention.
The ESG 2020 Cares Act funds are provided to the City to help mitigate COVID-19 impacts to the community. In order to address the emergencies facing the community and to use these funds timely, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has allowed the City of Evansville to take advantage of alternate measures in its requirements for public notice, public comment, and public hearing. The City has opted to use the HUD permitted 5-day comment period and to post notice to the public onto the City’s website.
