Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony set for November 28 at 5 p.m.

(November 1, 2018) Community residents are invited to join Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke for the City of Evansville’s annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. A brief ceremony will be held in front of the Civic Center.

This year’s Christmas tree is a 28-foot-tall Norway spruce donated by Richard Sanford. Special thanks to Sanford and to SKANSKA for donating a crew and equipment to transport the tree to the Civic Center. The tree is expected to arrive on Monday, November 19, weather permitting. It will be decorated with multi-color LED lights donated to the city last year by Advance Network & Computer Services and used again for this year’s decorations. The Christmas tree will also be topped with a lighted “e” signifying everyone is welcome.

Singers with the Reitz Memorial High School Choir, led by Choir Director Patrick Stuckemeyer, will perform. Mayor Winnecke will start the countdown to turn on the Christmas tree lights at approximately 5:15 p.m. The Christmas tree will remain on display until after January 1, 2019.
