Parks Department Hiring Part-Time Summer Workers
(April 5, 2019) The City of Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking to fill more than 100 seasonal part-time jobs. Employees will work at city parks and recreation facilities, golf courses and neighborhood pools. The biggest need is for camp counselors and lifeguards. Last year, more than 125 workers were employed at city pools alone.
Swonder Ice Arena will offer Camp Swonder from May 28 through Aug 2. Swonder needs Camp Counselors who are outgoing, active and friendly to supervise and interact with campers ages 6- 12 years old. City playgrounds need workers for the Summer Adventures Too program. The recreation program starts June 3 and ends June 28. It will be offered weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. at Cedar Hall Elementary School, Caze Elementary School, Evans Middle School, Glenwood Leadership Academy, Lodge Community School, and Dexter Elementary School. Staff will be trained to lead activities in arts and crafts, sports, special events and field trips for children age 6 to 14 years-old. Free lunch will be provided.
Hartke Pool will be open this swim season from May 27 through August 6. Neighborhood pools will be open from June 1 through July 28. Pool Managers will be paid $12.50 an hour, Head Lifeguards $10.50 an hour, New Lifeguards $9.50 an hour, and Pool Cashiers $7.50 to $8 an hour.
