Rider Alert: METS adding additional bus disinfecting cycles

(March 10, 2020) — The Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS) will add extra disinfecting cycles to all buses and facilities during operating hours.

Disinfecting cycles will be added at 10 am, 3 pm and 8 pm, in addition to daily disinfecting procedures at the end of operating hours.
The temporary cycles are in place to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including COVID-19 and influenza.

METS asks riders to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines when riding fixed routes or METS Mobility:

Clean your hands often

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

Don't ride if you’re sick

Cover coughs and sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Throw used tissues in the trash.
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
