Heavy Trash Collection

The 2020 curbside heavy trash collection program by Republic Services will begin on June 22, 2020.

The heavy trash collection program will again be available for residents of the City of Evansville beginning June 22, 2020.  The collection areas will have essentially the same boundaries as they did in the previous collection.

What is heavy trash?  Heavy trash, or bulky trash, includes, but is not limited to, the following items: furniture, such as sofas, tables, chairs, mattresses and box springs; appliances, including stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, clothes dryers and water heaters.  Refrigerants must be removed and tagged by a certified professional). No more than ten (10) of these items per address.  Carpet must be rolled in sections no longer than 4 feet and no bigger than 2 feet in diameter. Limit of ten (10) rolls of carpet.

Loose building materials and construction debris must be placed in trash containers.  These containers should be no heavier than can reasonably be lifted by two average adults.  Containers should be strong enough to not break apart while being lifted even if they are wet.  No concrete blocks or steel poles and no privacy fence sections will be picked up.

Heavy trash should be placed wherever garbage is normally collected from the home, whether at the curb or in the alley.  All heavy trash items must be set out before 6 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.

The heavy trash contractor will not pick up trash that would normally be picked up as part of the regular weekly collection, nor will they pick up piles or stacks of construction/building materials, privacy fences, automobile parts, automotive or household batteries, tires, televisions, computer equipment or hazardous materials.

Please refer to the map for your day of collection.  For more information, call the heavy trash contractor, Republic Waste Services, at 812-424-3345.
