REQUESTING A COPY OF A MARRIAGE RECORD
The Vanderburgh County Clerk's Office is responsible for Vanderburgh County Marriage Records from 1835 to the present year, and we can also provide copies of marriage applications from the original books, which may be useful for genealogical purposes.
Regular copies are $1.00 each. Certified copies are $2.00 each.
You may also contact the Vanderburgh County Clerk's Office to obtain certified copies of a Marriage License, the legal document needed to provide proof of marriage.
If you would like to pick up a certified copy of your Marriage License in person:
You may first call our office at (812) 435-5161 to place your request. We will immediately prepare your request so it is available for pick-up in our office at your convenience. Certified copies are $2.00 each and are always available to the public at the Marriage License desk in Room 216 of the Courts Building, 825 Sycamore Street, Evansville, Indiana.
If you prefer certified copies mailed to you, please submit to our office the following:
- Your written request, including each party’s first and last name at the time of the marriage, year the marriage took place (approximate, if not known), and the number of copies you would like;
- Payment in full (cash, cashier’s check, or money order; NO personal checks); and
